A 29-year-old man was taken into police custody after threatening two people and responding officers with a machete on Saturday at a Myrtle Beach apartment complex . Officers received a call about a disturbance at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at Westwind apartments on Pridgen Road, near 13th Avenue South . When police arrived on scene, the man, identified as Joshua Curt Floyd , also threatened them, Lt. Joey Crosby, spokesman with Myrtle Beach police , said. Once the officers were threatened, they set up a perimeter and called for backup. Search and arrest warrants were obtained, and multiple agencies, including South Carolina Law Enforcement Division , Horry County Fire Rescue , and a SWAT team were called to the scene, and blocked part of Pridgen Road for hours during the investigation, police said. “They [officers] felt it was best to retreat for their safety and also to make sure the public was safe as well,” Crosby said. MUSKEGON, MI - Muskegon police are "working hard" to investigate what are now two incidents of racial graffiti discovered in Muskegon and to determine whether they are connected to a noose left on a school playground. The latest incident involving graffiti left on an exterior door at the Glen Oaks Apartments complex was reported just after midnight Wednesday, said a spokesman for the Muskegon Police Department . The discovery of the graffiti involving the N-word came a day after similar graffiti was found on a statue at Muskegon High School . Over the weekend, a noose was discovered hanging on a swing set at the playground of Muskegon Public Schools ' Glenside School. Turnbull said Saturday that the boy's mother was badly injured and is in a hospital following Friday's attack at the Las Ramblas promenade . Turnbull says the boy's family is searching for him. HILLSBORO, OR — Two Portland teens were arrested over the past 24 hours on suspicion of attempted murder in Hillsboro last week, according to Hillsboro police spokesman Lt . Henry Reimann. Cristin Octavio Magana -Ponce, 19, was arrested early Friday at his Portland residence with help from the Portland Metro Gang and Crisis Negotiation teams and Portland Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT). He was lodged at the Washington County Jail on charges of conspiracy to commit two murders. An Oxford University worker has been charged with murder after a man's body was discovered in an apartment with more than 40 stab wounds . Andrew Warren, 56, a senior treasury assistant at the institution's Somerville College, is accused alongside Professor Wyndham Lathem , 42, of murdering Trenton Cornell -Duranleau.
