Weymouth homicide suspect believed in South Florida
FRAMINGHAM - Homicide suspect Cornel Bel is believed to be hiding in South Florida, possibly in Coral Gables or Miami, where he is known to have family contacts, Massachusetts State Police said. Bell is the authorities' prime suspect in the homicide of Michele Clarke of Weymouth. The two had what police called "a past dating relationship ." Clarke's body was found at about 4 a.m. Saturday in her Lake Street apartment after police were asked to check on her welfare. Police said she died of, " sharp force injuries ." Before the day was out, police secured an arrest warrant for Bell in Quincy District Court . Authorities said Bell has a long history of violent crime and several outstanding arrest warrants . One warrant dates from 1997 charging him with assault with the intent to murder and a 2002 one charges him with armed robbery. Bell is adept at using aliases, police said in writing.
