Rogue Studios hails Varna Street move

Image
Crusader Mill Rogue Studios is relocating from Crusader Mill to Varna Street, with co- director Martin Nash hailing its new Manchester home as "fantastic and the perfect space to enable our artists to carry on doing what they do best". Home to nearly 100 artists from all over the UK and beyond, Rogue's artists will this month move from their existing building near Piccadilly station to an old school in east Manchester. Rogue has been based at the listed Crusader Mill since 2000, occupying three floors of the building that up to that point had been entirely occupied by knitting factories. Developer Capital & Centric acquired Crusader Mill in 2015, with the aim of eventually restoring the listed structures and converting it into apartments for local residents, there was widespread concern about what this might mean for Rogue's future. When it became clear that the studios needed to relocate, Capital & Centric worked closely with Rogue to keep the artists t...

Joel Burgess/Citizen-Times The Stoneyard Apartments are proposed for 175 Lyman St. in the River Arts District . New real estate reporter tries to find an apartment in San Diego.

Image
I didn’t cry while searching for a San Diego apartment , but I came close. Moving to the city on a Sunday night, I had a five-day reservation at a Motel 6 and needed to find an apartment fast . I also had my 6-year-old tabby cat with me and a new job as real estate reporter for the San Diego Union -Tribune to start the next day. I was fairly confident I’d find a place quickly because in the last decade I had managed to get apartments in London, Chicago, San Francisco, New York City, rural New Jersey, Northeast Pennsylvania and, most recently, Monterey. Not only did San Diego turn out to be the most difficult, it made me change nearly everything I thought I wanted. My criteria was a one- bedroom apartment near the beach that allows cats, a rent of no more than $1,200 and was fairly close to work. To say the least, I stayed at the Motel 6 longer than expected. Ignorance of what neighborhood I was in most of the time was exacerbated only by a rental market that has seen prices increase...

Surrounding her was the home she'd made for herself and her two sons in the past year, since they moved out of her Toyota Camry and into Admiral Manor, a low- rent apartment complex in west Bremerton . There was the single bedroom with two kids' beds on the floor. The living room she'd decorated with signs that said "Hope" and "Love." Marvel’s Netflix show ‘The Defenders” – A Primer

Image
In a few short hours Netflix will launch the much anticipated Defenders series uniting the street-level heroes of Hell’s Kitchen. A Brief History of The Defenders in the Marvel Universe : The Defenders first appeared in the comic book Marvel Feature #1  (December 1971) and were created by Roy Thomas and Ross Andru What set the Defenders apart from other the super teams that came before was that they had no charter or by-laws, no permanent headquarters, no fixed roster, and little affection for each other. The first Defenders team was formed by Doctor Strange when Yardoth, a Yannian (an alien humanoid race ) scientist, threatened Earth with the Omegatron doomsday device . Dr. Strange persuaded a reluctant Hulk and Namor, who had both helped him defeat the extra-dimensional, demonic beings called the Undying Ones, to help him thwart Yandroth’s scheme.    After the defeat of Yandroth, Hulk and Namor vowed never to work together again, but Strange managed to hold this informal allianc...
