GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) There are 12 state prison inmates in Texas serving life without parole sentences which the U.S. Supreme Court has said is unconstitutional, but not a single one of them has asked for a new sentence. One of those inmates is housed at a prison unit in Gatesville. (CN) – Hurricane Harvey appeared to be taking dead aim at Corpus Christi Friday morning , where officials encouraged residents to evacuate, as the storm intensifies . Weather forecasters worry that the storm may stall when it hits land, and could dump as much as 35 inches of rain in places, which would be disastrous. While the evacuation of Corpus Christi was voluntary Thursday, authorities in Port Aransas, Rockport and Calhoun County have ordered mandatory evacuations . Harvey, now a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of more than 80 mph, is intensifying rapidly and is forecast to be a major hurricane with winds of 125 mph – making it nearly a Category 4 storm – by the time it hits the Texas coast Friday night or early Saturday. Sheriff's officials say the case is closed on the recent death of a 26-year-old suspected of overdosing on methamphetamine at the West Hollywood apartment of political influencer Ed Buck . But the mother of the man, Gemmel Moore, says Buck should be held accountable for her son’s death. Moore's mother, LaTisha Nixon, says that about a year ago her son called her crying about Buck. He was scared, she says, and his experiences with the 62-year-old inspired him to leave Los Angeles and return to her Texas home. He is from Suffield, Connecticut. They earlier recovered the remains of Electronics Technician 3rd Class Kenneth Aaron Smith , 22, who the Navy listed as being from New Jersey. His mother said Smith grew up in Novi, Michigan, and moved to Norfolk, Virginia, as a teenager with his father. The military said five sailors were injured and 10 were missing following Monday's collision. The Navy said missing soldiers were from Missouri, Texas, Maryland, Ohio, New York, Connecticut and Illinois. The collision tore a hole in the ship's left rear hull and flooded adjacent compartments , including crew berths and machinery and communication rooms. WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities are investigating the overdose death of a young man at the West Hollywood apartment of a prominent Democratic Party donor . The donor and political activist, Ed Buck, denies any wrongdoing. But the family of the man who overdosed, Gemmel Moore, is demanding answers. Los Angeles County Sheriff 's homicide detectives have launched a new investigation into the overdose that claimed the 26-year-old's life.
