Man found shot to death in car in parking lot of Silverbrook Apartments in Aurora

AURORA - A man was found shot to death inside a car at an apartment complex in Aurora Saturday night . Someone called police at about 7:45 p.m. and said they believed there was a dead body in a car in the parking lot of the Silverbrook Apartments, near East 1st Avenue and South Chambers Road . The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Aurora Police Department . "The initial investigation reveals that the victim was shot in the head," police said. Detectives from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit have taken over the investigation. "This is an active investigation and the scene has not been released," police stated Sunday morning at about 8:30 a.m. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to call Agent Tom Welton at (303) 739-6107 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). Tipsters to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

2 taken to hospital from apartment building fire

Two people were taken to the hospital from an apartment where a fire broke out this morning in Lower Paxton Township . The fire was reported around 6:15 a.m. at 261 N. Arlington Ave. in Stone Bridge Apartments off Colonial Road. Thurston Henry, who lives in the apartment above where the fire is believed to have started, said he was on his way to the gym when he discovered the fire. "I opened the front door and all this smoke hit me," Henry said. "I started knocking on doors to get people out." "That smoke was heavy - it made my eyes water," Henry said. He saw firefighters carry a man and woman out of the apartment below him, who Henry said was a mother and son. Lt. Ron Gramigni of Lower Paxton Township police said two people were taken to the hospital, and the fire marshal is investigating. RFP Staff ♦ Tonight about 8:10 p.m. shots were heard at Colonial Village Apartments in the 200 block of West “D” Avenue in Salisbury, N.C. The gunshot victim, Joshua Victor Harrison , 32, was hit in the back by a shotgun blast during an attempted robbery by a black assailant with short dreads and a dark hoodie sweatshirt . Harrison initially answered the front door and turning, attempted to run when he saw the robber was armed with a sawed-off shotgun. When the Salisbury Police arrived , they found the Harrison bleeding profusely from a back wound, yet able to respond to questions. They found him a distance from the actual shooting on a porch at 306 West Avenue “D”. Joshua Victor Harrison : Transported initially to Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center , Harrsion was evacuated by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center Northeast in Concord. Two Marietta Men Convicted in Smyrna Apartment Murder

MARIETTA, GA — Two Marietta men convicted of murdering a woman in a Smyrna apartment have been sentenced to life without parole plus five years in confinement. After a two-week-long trial, a Cobb jury on Friday found Simeon Gashon Moore , 27, and Walter Vernell Milbourne , 31, guilty of murder, aggravated assault, burglary, armed robbery, violation of Georgia controlled substances act , and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. Moore was also convicted of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. On Nov. 12, 2014, the defendants and their co-defendant, Kevin Nathanial Robinson , attempted to conduct a drug transaction with Jamie Milton, 29, the boyfriend of victim Jamie Adedra Moore , 24. Robinson left his cell phone in Milton’s vehicle, and the defendants saw Milton drive back into the Mission Galleria Apartments in Smyrna. A known Oklahoma gang member is accused of killing a man at a birthday pool party in June. On Monday, Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn filed a second- degree murder charge against known gang affiliate , 21-year-old De Abray Amonda Reese , of Oklahoma City. According to an Oklahoma City police affidavit , at about 9:20 p.m. June 13 officers responded to a report of multiple gunshots at the Brookwood Village Apartments , 9401 S. Shartel Ave. near the office swimming pool . Once on scene, officers found Steven Morgan Jr . lying inside the swimming pool area . Morgan was transported to OU Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries on June 15, two days after the shooting. Detectives interviewed witnesses that said Reese, who witnesses referred to as “Osama King,” was at the party, and was seen shooting a gun. Suspect in Haverford Twp. killing, Overbrook Park shooting arrested in Georgia

HAVERFORD TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- U.S. Marshals have apprehended the man wanted for a killing in Haverford Township, Delaware County that followed a burst of gunfire in the Overbrook Park section of Philadelphia late last month. Derrick Rollins, 24, was taken into custody Tuesday in Decatur, Georgia. Authorities say he initially attempted to hide from marshals, but eventually surrendered to K9 units after he was spotted by surveillance teams at an apartment complex with a female associate. Rollins has addresses in the 5100 block of Locust Street and the 4000 block of North A Street in Philadelphia. His arrest was based upon information developed by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia suggesting he had fled to Georgia. Rollins is currently being held in the Dekalb County Jail pending extradition . Mother of abandoned newborn girl charged with child neglect

The only remains of the birth of "Baby Willow" were washed away from an apartment complex parking lot Tuesday morning as distraught neighbors looked on. A day earlier Orlando police responded around 3 p.m. to Willow Bend Apartments after someone reported seeing a possible placenta in the parking lot. Homicide and crime- scene investigators determined "that a full term baby had been born and discarded," police said. Officers found the mother, 30-year-old Susan Richardson, on Monday but no baby. She only admitted to giving birth to the girl, according to police. Richardson was taken to the Orange County Jail on an aggravated child neglect charge Tuesday afternoon , police say.
