(TNS) - Torrential rains fell overnight causing historic flooding in south Kansas City , Mo., and leading to water rescues and evacuations. As many as 9 inches of rain fell since Monday. Early Tuesday firefighters rescued a woman stranded in a tree at 103rd Street and Wornall Road when Indian Creek flooded the area. That creek, which saw record flooding last month, set a new record of 28. 22 feet overnight . A family of seven were trapped on top of their roof after rushing floodwaters surrounded their home at 155th Street and Kenneth Road. The Overland Park Fire Department have been in contact via phone with the family of three adults and four children and their pets. Because they are not in immediate danger and the water levels around them are receding, crews will allow those water levels to drop to safer levels before evacuating the family. Firefighters said the family is calm. Floodwaters were out of the banks of Indian Creek and over bridges as businesses, apartments and home...

HOUSTON, TX — More news has surfaced on the baby found abandoned in an NW Harris County apartment Thursday morning . According to authorities, the baby was less than an hour old, full-term and healthy, covered with ants and still had its umbilical cord attached . Two men on their way to work early Thursday morning found the baby around 5 a.m. in the grass on the grounds of the apartment complex off of Red Oak Drive. Investigators have tracked down the woman they feel is the biological mother. There was an emergency custody hearing Friday morning , and the man who claims to be the father testified that the mother constantly denied being pregnant, although he believed she was. A DNA test is being performed to see if the man matches the baby's DNA. According to the report on KTRK Houston, the child's umbilical cord had been ripped rather than cut, and that the infant has a bacterial infection and rapid heart rate . Detectives said that if the two people hadn't found the b...

The balance of our coverage provides a snapshot of who America's millionaires are, where they live, and how they built their wealth. How did they accomplish this? Some did it by living frugally and saving aggressively so that when the bad times hit, they had enough of a cushion. Others proved to be resilient in the face of setbacks, staying the course with the...
