WOODBRIDGE, Va. - A man was found dead inside his Woodbridge apartment after emergency crews responded for a fire investigation. The fire happened around 11:30 p.m. on Monday at an apartment in the 3500 block of Sherbrooke Circle. During a search of the apartment, crews found an unconscious adult male . The man was later pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of his death is unknown at this time. The investigation is still continuing.

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The Wedgewood Village Apartment complex on the west side of the city is averaging about one homicide a month. So far this year, there have been seven homicides investigated in that area. Most recently on Friday, police responded to a report of shots fired on Doulton Court. Inside an apartment building , officers found 22-year-old Cody Nichols lying in the hallway, suffering from a gunshot wound. Nichols was pronounced dead at 2:10am. Last month a home invasion turned into a double homicide. In April, there was a triple shooting that ended up killing two men. POINT BREEZE (WTXF) - Police are investigating the deaths of two people inside an apartment in Philadelphia’s Point Breeze neighborhood after they responded to a call from a family member late Sunday night . Officers responded to the 1300 block of Federal Street just before midnight after a family member found the victim’s on the floor of their first-floor apartment. Police say the victims,  50-year-old Candido Gonzalez and 23-year-old Caitlyn Jaje, were found dead in different rooms. Investigators say both victims had been tied up, had bruises on their faces and bodies, and may have been strangled. The home appeared to have been ransacked, but there was no sign of forced entry, according to police. MARIETTA, Ga. -- Police say they've made two arrests in a shooting that left one man dead in Marietta late Tuesday at an area apartment complex . Cobb County investigators first responded to the 2800 block of Windy Hill Road to a report of a person shot. There, at the 1200 building of Belmont Place, police found one man suffering from injuries not expected to be life-threatening. The 31-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital as the search continued. Later another victim, later identified as 25-year-old Esmond Ford, was found dead of a gunshot wound inside a nearby apartment. It was an observant off- duty Cobb County police officer who noticed another person near the 1200 building around the same time. Aug. 22 (UPI) -- A pair of North Carolina residents said they found a venomous copperhead snake and a black snake inside their apartment -- and one might still be inside. Alycia Williams said her roommate at the Vie at Raleigh apartment complex spotted the copperhead snake and the black snake slithering into her bedroom early Saturday morning . "I guess they were both right there and they killed one of them because they were trying to get the broom and sweep them outside, but the other one went up under my door and came in here," Williams told WTVD -TV. She said the dead snake was the copperhead, while the black snake might still be hiding inside the apartment. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Police in Alabama are investigating after two men were found shot to death inside a home. Local news outlets report the Jefferson County Coroner 's Office identified the men, found early Wednesday , as 20-year-old DeJohn Lewis Williams and 22-year-old Dante Lanier Hall . Williams lived in the home where the killings took place. Birmingham police Lt . Sean Edwards says police responded around 1 a.m. Wednesday to a home in Birmingham's Powderly community after neighbors reported hearing gunshots . Officers found Williams and Hall each dead from a single gunshot wound . Edwards says there was a small amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the home. He called the incident a "cold and calculated shooting." The investigation is ongoing.

Brian Pattison was convicted of first-degree murder and first-degree arson after a seven-day trial. He was first arrested on May 25, 2016. Prosecutors say Pattison shot and killed Shane Richardson after going to his apartment under the guise of a “tattoo party” to finish a tattoo he had started for the victim. He was found guilty of shooting and killing Richardson sometime between April 30 and May 2, 2016 and ultimately setting fire to the building – which also houses Rosenberg’s Bagels and Delicatessen – during the late night hours of May 1. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Officers are at the scene of a deadly shooting where police say one person was killed on Thursday afternoon in the area of Armour and Troost. Family members tell FOX 4's Shayla Patrick that the victim was just 18-years old. He was leaving Thursday evening to go to Missouri State University in Springfield. They say he was in the area getting a haircut. At about 2:45 p.m., police were called out and found the young man dead inside a car.  Police believe the suspects and victim exchanged gunfire . They say they found a weapon at the scene. Police are still looking for the two suspects. They believe one was hurt. "He was on his way to college tomorrow. He's a good guy, a good fellow.
