In a neighborhood with many older buildings that lack even in-building laundry, this prompted an question extra in rent do you have to pay to have laundry (whether in-unit or in-building) at your Castro apartment ? To find out, we analyzed data from rental listings website Zumper , examining all studio and one-bedroom apartments for rent in the neighborhood. Our data found that the median rental price for a studio or one-bedroom in the Castro is $3,300, but the median for those with laundry is $3,450—a difference of $150 per month, or 4.55 percent. There’s a big demand for more affordable housing in Charlotte, where rents and home prices have shot up much faster than wages over the past few years. Many of the apartments being built now target more affluent renters, waitlists for housing vouchers are long and starter homes are snapped up almost immediately. So why aren’t developers building more affordable housing ? I didn’t cry while searching for a San Diego apartment , but I came close. Moving to the city on a Sunday night, I had a five-day reservation at a Motel 6 and needed to find an apartment fast . I also had my 6-year-old tabby cat with me and a new job as real estate reporter for the San Diego Union -Tribune to start the next day. I was fairly confident I’d find a place quickly because in the last decade I had managed to get apartments in London, Chicago, San Francisco, New York City, rural New Jersey, Northeast Pennsylvania and, most recently, Monterey. Not only did San Diego turn out to be the most difficult, it made me change nearly everything I thought I wanted. Police are investigating a body found at a Cordova apartment complex . Neighbors at the Woodchase Apartment Complex are a little uneasy after a body was discovered. A car is apparently missing, and the mystery is just beginning. Investigators spilled in and out of Woodchase Apartment Building 2035 . Neighbors standing in the parking lot were dumbfounded by the scene. Shelby County Sheriff 's Deputies showed up to serve an eviction notice but inside they found a body badly decomposed . They called Memphis police , who arrived on scene shortly before noon.
