New apartments could be on the way to a vacant lot in Temecula, potentially offering more options for renters. The Temecula City Council on Tuesday, Nov. 13, considered a project proposal for the construction of a 120-unit complex on the northeast corner of Mira Loma Drive and Rancho Vista Road . Approval of the complex required a General Plan amendment to allow for 16 units to be built per acre, which is double the amount previously allowed at that site. By 9 p.m., council members had not yet voted on the proposal for the Mira Loma Apartments . Public speakers both supported the project for its housing options and opposed it out of concerns about traffic and open space preservation . “We still have in place our growth management plan that indicates we start at the lower end of the density and move up,” Councilman Jeff Comerchero said of the exception to allow the complex. About 100 people were ordered out of two squalid Temple Hills condominium buildings Tuesday , but a group of defiant residents said they are not leaving because they have nowhere to go. Fire officials warned the manager, owners and tenants of Lynnhill Condominiums last week about multiple fire-code violations, including towering piles of garbage in trash chutes and trash storage rooms , inoperable fire doors and a broken alarm system . Source: WGCL ATLANTA (CBS46) - A highly publicized battle between the Atlanta Watershed and an Atlanta apartment complex headed  to court on Wednesday but did not address the issue of nearly $700,000 in water bills owed by the complex. The court hearing was on other violations at the complex and not the actual water bill in question. Many residents say they're struggling to find money to move out of the complex and they feel stuck. CBS46 did some digging and found the court assignments and the property owner is listed several times. CBS46 first reported on the problems at Sierra Ridge in late July and their water balance of $690,000. Atlanta Mayor Kasim reed says the owners of the complex have been collecting rent money from families that live there but have not paid their water bills in more than two years. Faced with numerous owners not picking up after their dogs when they poop on the grounds, the management at the Shasta View Apartments plans to start collecting the physical evidence to track down offending pets and their owners. Two restaurants, an apartment complex and four other businesses were announced as the next occupants of Rayzor Ranch Town Center , a development on the south side of West University Drive , according to a press release issued Monday by RED Development.  Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen and Zoës Kitchen will be open next summer, with construction starting this year. Cheddar's, a national restaurant with a classic American menu such as burgers and steaks, will be in its own building space of 7,500 square feet. Zoës Kitchen is a fast- casual Mediterranean restaurant based in Plano. WINSTON-SALEM- The city of Winston-Salem says it's stepping in to deal with problems at the Rolling Hills apartment complex . City officials say they're going to start assessing heavy fines over problems like leaky toilets and other issues at the apartments off Martin Luther King drive . Although the rent is a little high for the area, ours was $1400. The location is very good if you're working downtown, but don't take the bus (riding through SODO sucks and takes an hour). The landscaping is well taken care of, the maintenance is good and the front office worked well with us. We paid rent late one time and they let it go after a little convincing (else would have received a higher rating). Parking can also be a pain.
