TEMECULA: Apartment complex still in play
New apartments could be on the way to a vacant lot in Temecula, potentially offering more options for renters. The Temecula City Council on Tuesday, Nov. 13, considered a project proposal for the construction of a 120-unit complex on the northeast corner of Mira Loma Drive and Rancho Vista Road . Approval of the complex required a General Plan amendment to allow for 16 units to be built per acre, which is double the amount previously allowed at that site. By 9 p.m., council members had not yet voted on the proposal for the Mira Loma Apartments . Public speakers both supported the project for its housing options and opposed it out of concerns about traffic and open space preservation . “We still have in place our growth management plan that indicates we start at the lower end of the density and move up,” Councilman Jeff Comerchero said of the exception to allow the complex.
