Leaders mull ways to improve parking in downtown Auburn | Auburn

Downtown Merchants Association coordinator Jessica Kohn said one resounding issue is brought up at each monthly meeting of downtown Auburn business owners . “A huge hurdle is employees not having designated parking spaces for them,” Kohn said. “Unless business owners lease parking spaces , that’s really the only way they’re guaranteed a space. Certain business owners tell their employees to catch a ride or walk.” On average, 125 employees work at businesses downtown each day, she added. Not having them park their personal vehicles downtown frees parking spaces for customers. Yet the rallying cry from people who work, shop and eat in Auburn is that there is simply not enough parking space available to everyone. “In all the parking studies we’ve done, we’ve always been told that what Auburn needs is not one huge deck with 1,000 cars or 2,000 cars. It’s several little spaces,” interim city manager Jim Buston said. “Because our town is not that big; our town is smal...

Forest City sells its last lingering pieces of Tower City for $16 million to the K&D Group

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Forest City Realty Trust , Inc., passed the torch at Tower City Center on Thursday, selling off its final pieces of the mixed-use complex in the heart of downtown. With the sale of the Post Office Plaza and a nearby parking lot , Forest City - once downtown Cleveland's dominant landlord - finished a six-year-long exit from property ownership in the center city. The publicly traded company will stick around as a tenant, moving its headquarters and hundreds of workers from Terminal Tower to Key Tower in the spring. The K&D Group paid $15 million for Post Office Plaza , a 477,000-square- foot office building that is 55 percent vacant. In a separate transaction, K&D paid $1 million for a triangular parking lot next to the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel , west of Public Square. Doug Price, K&D's chief executive officer , confirmed the details during an interview late Thursday . "We think it's a real strategic purchase ," he said of Post...

The biggest differences between Houston and Dallas

Image
1. Hairspray vs Hair straighteners I have seen women in Dallas bathrooms open their large Louis Vuitton bag and pull out a full OTHER Louis Vuitton bag jammed with makeup, hair spray, toothpaste, whitening strips, curlers, etc. They’ll then help themselves to a FULL mirror in a crowded bar bathroom at midnight while a line of women waits outside. Houston women would punch you in the face for wasting their time like that or hogging the mirror: All they need is a hair straightener to fight the humidity and a pony tail holder when it’s no use trying to tame that mess of a hair-do. 2. Traffic on 75N vs Westheimer during rush hour. If you are smooth at taking the back roads in Dallas to avoid rush hour , remember Houston doesn ’t have back roads. If you think you are on one, you will likely end up going the wrong way and end up in Cypress, I know this because I tried it yesterday. 3. Most vibrant culture: Montrose vs. Deep Ellum? Growing up in Houston, the vintage buys in Montrose are ...

Board in favor of Logan Square apartment initiative

Pharos-Tribune (Logansport, IN) Aug. 24--A Logansport commission is planning to support a housing project in a downtown building with $160,000 and a five- year tax abatement . Bill Cuppy, executive director of the Cass- Logansport Economic Development Organization and Logansport- Cass County Chamber of Commerce, discussed the project at a Logansport Redevelopment Commission meeting on Wednesday. The project involves the Logan Square Building at Third Street and East Broadway. The vacant five- story building consists of about 45, 000 square feet and has a parking lot with about 75 spaces. Cuppy's presentation indicated Lafayette- based FRG Management is pursuing the project. The company bought the building in June and is willing to invest $3.2 million, Cuppy said. FRG Management wants to make the building's first floor mixed-use commercial, Cuppy continued, adding the firm is in talks to provide office space to a financial adviser and an attorney. Cuppy added the firs...

Developers seeking tenants for new East Dundee building

Over the past two years, the vacant grassy field that once capped off East Dundee's downtown district has been transformed into a $4 million mixed-use development. The 24,500-square-foot building at 311 Barrington Ave. was designed to bring more residents downtown, contribute to the village's culinary district and aesthetically complement other historic structures in the area, said Tracy Burnidge, broker and leasing agent. Developers are in the midst of pinning down retail tenants before building out the 12,000 square feet of available restaurant space on the first floor, he said. Other work on the property, such as landscaping, parking and additional building details , also have yet to be completed. However, residents have already begun moving into the loft- style apartments upstairs , Burnidge said, and it won't be long before the development is fully occupied. "We're trying everything possible to get people in here," he said. De...

The Overlook At Westridge Apartments - 19 Photos - Apartments - 600 SW Kenyon St, Highland Park, Seattle, WA - Phone Number

7 600 SW Kenyon St Seattle , WA 98106 (206) 763-9982 It's The Overlook at Westridge. There is no "B" in there (if someone can fix, that might help) Lived there for a year in a top-floor 2 bedroom. It was recently remodeled when we moved in early '08. Granite counters, SS appliances (although cheap ones), nice cabinetry, w/d in unit. We liked it very much. Although the rent is a little high for the area, ours was $1400. The location is very good if you're working downtown, but don't take the bus (riding through SODO sucks and takes an hour). The landscaping is well taken care of, the maintenance is good and the front office worked well with us. We paid rent late one time and they let it go after a little convincing (else would have received a higher rating). Parking can also be a pain. And when it snows, you'll miss work because of the Kenyon St. hill. The neighborhood I guess can be a little sketchy, but we never had any problems. Although White Center ...
