Jail inmate leaves Portland job, later nabbed in Westbrook

PORTLAND — A Cumberland County Jail inmate who authorities said walked off his jail work-release job Tuesday was arrested about nine hours later.

Larry P. Goodwin, 41, of Seattle, walked away from a job at 158 Fore St. around 9:30 a.m., according to a press release from jail spokesman Wayne Pike. He was apprehended about 6:30 p.m. at an apartment building in Westbrook.

Pike did not disclose the address of the building. He said Goodwin was returned to the jail but did not detail what additional charges he may face.
