It's a quiet area across the street from a public school.

But less than 24 hours ago at least a dozen rounds were shot at a man at Heatherstone Apartments in Kennewick.

"Next thing you know we are police coming up the street and stuff," says resident Gordon Ingram.

Kennewick Police say two suspects were carving their gang insignia into the paint of the victim's car.

When the victim identified as Jorge Jimenez, confronted them, they shot him to death.

"Didn't know what was going on! Until you said it was a shooting and it was a fatal wow," says Ingram.

"Friends helped carry him upstairs to his apartment where he passed away," says Sargeant Ken Lattin of Kennewick Police.

The man fired shots using a handgun. 

At least two of the bullets hit the victim.

Lattin says the fatality was gang related.

Despite last night's gang fatality, Lattin doesn't believe there is an uptick of gang violence in the area.

Kennewick Police detectives along with the Benton County Sherriff's Gang Enforcement Team are pursuing several leads on the case.
