UPDATE (WKOW) -- A resident of an apartment building that caught on fire Monday morning is safe, but left everything behind her. "I never expected this to happen," said displaced resident LeAnn Berghoff , who woke up from screams outside her apartment and found her bedroom filling up with smoke. "I looked out the window and I just heard people screaming , get out, get out!" Berghoff says she had no time to think, breaking through her bedroom window to escape. She left with just the clothes on her back. Her roommate, Paul Pankau, was working at the time of the fire but hurried back home after he received a call from Berghoff. "I knew she wasn't lying [about the fire], cause I could hear the sincerity and scared in her voice, she was shocked," said Pankau, recalling his conversation on the phone. SOUTH PASADENA >> A woman suffered serious injuries after an explosion and fire at an apartment complex Tuesday morning . Authorities said the fire displaced residents from six apartments. Mark Dondaville,division chief for the San Marino and South Pasadena fire departments , estimated damages at $200,000. SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) - The Sun Prairie Fire Department was called to an apartment fire located in the 600 block of Schiller Street on Monday around 4 a.m. According to the Sun Prairie Fire Department , firefighters arrived to a 16 unit apartment building with a lot of smoke showing. They found an active fire and began to put it out immediately. All the residents had evacuated when they arrived and residents from 14 of the 16 units are displaced due to this fire and the American Red Cross and Sun Prairie School District are providing support. UPDATE: The Greenville County Sheriff 's Office is assisting the Wade Hampton Fire Department with its investigation into what caused the fire at Lakecrest Apartments.  Thirty-three people were displaced during the fire, which began at roughly 9:30 p.m.  Read more about the investigation at WYFF's story. -------------------------------------------------- The top level of an apartment building in Taylors was scorched late Friday night , and fire officials are investigating to determine what caused the blaze.  David Bailey, assistant chief of the Wade Hampton Fire Department , said WHFD was called to Lakecrest Apartments at 3900 East North Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. When they arrived, Building H, near the rear of the grounds, was on fire, Bailey said. The Fayetteville Fire Department responded to a call at 11:19 a.m. regarding a possible apartment fire on the 800 block. Firefighters found smoke coming from a second-floor apartment, a news release said, and they declared a "working fire" alarm assignment. Multiple fire departments arrived on the scene, with firefighters working to put the fire out and evacuating adjoining apartments . Firefighters located the fire within a wall in the living room area and quickly extinguished it, the department said. Damage was limited to apartment 9104, and the power meter was removed to that individual unit. SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - 11:07 a.m. Police tell 7 Action News that a suspect has been arrested for allegedly intentionally setting an apartment building in Southfield on fire Monday morning . According to police, a 32-year-old Southfield man is in custody for the fire at Regal Towers Apartments off of Franklin Road. Police say he used a cigarette in the mail room to intentionally set the blaze. Several people were treated for smoke inhalation and one woman was transported to the hospital by first responders. (7/29/17) — Multiple fire departments are on the scene at Quail Run Apartments in Earlington for a fire that was called in shortly after 9 p.m. The fire is out but flames were showing in an upstairs apartment as Earlington Volunteer Fire Department arrived . EVFD Chief Chris Cothran said no one was home in the apartment where the fire was contained to a bedroom. The cause of the fire is yet unknown, said the chief. One building was evacuated. Fire ripped through an apartment building south of Newark on Monday evening, displacing 12 families. The flames broke out around 4:30 p.m. at Autumn Park Apartments , located in the 3700 block of Winterhaven Drive, behind Four Seasons Plaza. Firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Co. arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the third floor and roof in the back of the building, according to Chief Deputy Fire Marshal Robert Fox . Dozens of firefighters from 12 fire departments worked for nearly two hours to contain the fire. No one was injured, and firefighters rescued four cats from the building. Fox said his office has not yet determined a cause for the blaze. Aetna Assistant Chief Jeff Sands said firefighters faced “challenging weather conditions,” with snow and sleet falling and temperatures around the freezing mark. The American Red Cross is assisting 12 families who were displaced by the fire.
