Updated 6:50 a.m. Thursday GREENSBORO — Police said the 3-year-old toddler pulled from a pulled from a Greensboro pool Sunday afternoon did not survive. Police and emergency officials were called to Ridgeview Apartments at 305 Edwards Road about 4:10 p.m. and found the 3-year-old boy in the pool, said Detective Mike Matthews with Greensboro police . He was taken to the hospital. Matthews said late Wednesday the child did not live. It's unclear when the child died. A 13-year-old male teen died from an earlier incident at a pool at the Stonesthrow Apartment Homes at 3501 Farmington Drive about 12:10 p.m. The teen was rescued from the pool and taken to the hospital, where he died, police said. Raleigh mother pleads guilty to being accessory after the fact in death of son

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Raleigh mother appeared in court Friday in a 2014 case that triggered a statewide Amber Alert and ended with the discovery of her 2-year-old son's remains at Falls Lake. Briana Dangerfield, 27, was charged with attempting to conceal the murder, child abuse, destroying evidence, and accessory after the fact of murder. In an agreement with prosecutors, she pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. She was sentenced to prison for 6 years to 8 years, 4 months with credit for 2 years, 8 months served. Her husband, Steven Daniel Blue , pleaded guilty in March to second-degree murder. Police began investigating on Christmas Eve 2014 when Dangerfield called 911 to report her son Tristan missing at his home at the Arbor Creek Apartments off Buck Jones Road . When police got there, Blue told them he last saw the boy at 7:45 a.m. that Wednesday, but police were not contacted by Dangerfield until 1:15 p.m. Investig...

Murder suspect in Auburn apartment shooting surrenders to police

Demetrious Andre Newell Jr . Auburn police   A Chambers County man surrendered himself to authorities Wednesday for a murder charge stemming from a fatal shooting that occurred behind an Auburn apartment complex earlier this week. Auburn police said 25-year-old Demetrious Andre Newell Jr ., 25, fatally shot 28-year-old Anthony Jamal Davis , of Auburn, behind the complex located in the 500 block of Foster Street on Sunday at 9:45 p.m. Officers found the unresponsive victim lying in a grassy area. Medical personnel tried to give the victim treatment, but Davis was pronounced dead at 11:10 p.m. Newell developed as a suspect during the investigation and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police believe Newell shot Davis after an altercation occurred between the two men. After Newell surrendered to police at the Auburn Police Division , he was transported to Lee County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
